Hip Hop's Funeral
Fuck what you heard, Hip Hop's been dead. To me that is crystal clear, but as to how she died? Not so much. I am here today to settle two things or at least attempt to. To declare the murderer of our beloved Hip Hop and to give her a proper funeral. Read More

His-Story
Everyday I see people identify themselves by their ethnicity. These days I can't even walk two blocks without seeing a Dominican or Puerto Rican flag by someone's window. The other day I got back from Queens Center mall, I saw a Spanish guy engaging in a screaming contest with a Chinese guy. And lets just say neither one was speaking English. Read More

Career Paths: ROTC
You have all seen the commercials. A young African American saying to his concerned mother, “Mom, I think I have found a way to pay for college”. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the army, allow me to explain. In the army, a soldier is either enlisted or commissioned. Commissioned officers are the leaders of the army and they are the decision makers of the enlisted soldiers. Cadets interested in becoming an officer can enroll in a program called ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) whose job is to train and prepare cadets to be commissioned officers. This is the program they introduce to you on TV that potentially allows you to pay for college. Read More

Remember September
On the 6th anniversary of September 11th, most of you will wake up like you do on any other day. You will slide off the bed and slowly get dressed, mind still starting up. It’s the first week of classes for most students and already they are tired of the routine. Offices are under the pressure of bosses who are anxious to end the fiscal year on a high note. If you skip out on TV or radio in the morning, you might wonder as you see young men getting up for the elderly on a bus or as you notice the dramatic increase of patience among your fellow drivers. Red, white, blue. NYPD, FDNY and EMS gear donned by every other individual. Hopefully you get to work or school out of the dark and managed to not ask someone for the date before you discover it on your own. Read More

College Gangs
They say a fraternity is like a brotherhood. They say that your brothers will be there for you when you are in need of help. They sell you ideas of good times full of women, money and respect and offer you perks to join. The connections you make as a member will be priceless for life. All you have to do is prove your commitment thru initiation.

Now replace the word fraternity with gang and see how it reads. Continue

Slaves of Society
Ok. Let me get this straight. You think the system is set up against minorities? All right it is. So what do you want the government to do about it? What can they do about it when they're controlled by the rich who don't give a finger licking smidget about you? Continue

WTF is a System Rebel?
A lot of you readers reached this site from a bulletin or a comment in Myspace curious as to know what SystemRebels.com is. Before I go on to explain what we are, let me tell you what we are not. We are not here to preach the morals of mankind nor are we here to convert you to any particular religion. What we do here is write and provide insight (whether you agree or disagree is irrelevant) the way we see it. We don't sacrifice honesty to appeal to the mass and we voice the opinions of those that are hesitant to say what they truly believe. We are Rebels in the sense that we take time to analyze the popular opinion before we decide whether or not to make it our own. As for the word System, it is a term that we have all heard before. Political activists use it, conscious rappers mention it. To us everything has a system, from the management of your local McDonalds to the United States Congress. Thus to be a System Rebel is not to follow the System but to find a way through or around it. Continue
